MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

The Ministry of Education completed signing of a Consultancy Contract with Mr. N. James for the period August 2003 to July 2004. Representing the Ministry of Education was Mr. Ganga Persaud- Permanent Secretary – Ministry of Education in whose office the signing took place.

The works to be undertaken include South Ruimveldt Park Primary School for which general rehabilitation to the building is planned. The estimated cost for the structure is approximately $9M.

Other rehabilitation works added to the consultancy projects are extension to Turkeyen Nursery School, President’s College – External painting of one teaching block and completion of the Annexe at Carnegie School of Home Economics.

Consultancy Works are to begin immediately on all the projects. This was confirmed by Mr. James Consultants, Georgetown.

Mr. James’ works entail the preparation of sketch designs, detailed designs, drawings, budget estimates, bill of quantities, supervision of projects, tender and contract documents. Also included in the contract is clause number9, which reads, “The contract is effective from the date of signing to one year after. This may be extended on the same conclusion as mutually agreed by both Employer and the Consultant Manager”.
