WOMEN'S AFFAIRS BUREAU

Consultation for Policy Formulation

The Women's Affairs Bureau in the Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security in collaboration with the National Commission on Women has proposed to review the National Policy Paper on Women which was originally formulated in 1996.

As such the Women's Affairs Bureau in collaboration with the National Conmission on Women would consult with representatives from Non-Governmental Organisations / Civil Society throughout the ten administrative regions. The first such consultation process will be held in Georgetown on 2nd July 2003 at 1 :30pm at Carnegie Conference Room, High Street.

Sensitization process has already begun in Region 6 with the Regional Women' s Affairs Committee. Also a similar session was done with participants from various regions at National Development Institute (NDI) Decision Making Workshop held on 29 May, 2003 at Cara Inn, Kitty where Minister within the Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security, Hon. Bibi Sbadick addressed the participants.

Also on the agenda will be a brief session with,the women's representative on the Ethnic Relations Commission and information sharing on the Women and Gender Equality Commission which should be established in the near future. Therefore the media is invited to participate in this activity.
