Export records favourable for 2003

Guyana has recorded an increase in the export of non-traditional crops to international markets especially Barbados. These crops include plantains, watermelons, pineapples, cucumbers, limes and pumpkins.

According to statistics from the Central Packaging Facility of the New Guyana Marketing Corporation (NGMC) for the period January to August 2003, the total quantity of exports amounted to 647,143 kilograms, while for 2002 the amount was 694,294 kilograms. The statistics recorded were based on the quantity of produce exported.
